Gulfstream’s already history-making Enhanced Vision System (EVS I and II) reached a new milestone recently when the company delivered the 1,000th aircraft equipped with the state-of-the-art system.

In September 2001, after seven years of research, development and testing, Gulfstream became the first original equipment manufacturer to certify EVS, which displays real-time video of an aircraft’s surroundings using an externally mounted infrared camera. This enables the flight crew to see runway markings, taxiways, adjacent roads and surrounding areas during limited visibility.

“Gulfstream sets the standard in business aviation for bringing advanced safety technologies like EVS to market,” says Dan Nale, senior vice president, Programs, Engineering and Test, Gulfstream. “Gulfstream EVS significantly improves safety by increasing a pilot’s situational awareness at night and during low-visibility conditions.”
